Calling all Turkey Trot Volunteers – Come and Help!
Piedmont’s 9th annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot is almost here and the organizers are seeking community spirited volunteers to help make this event safe and fun for all by spending one hour as a course monitor. This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever with 1,200 participants and espresso carts, sponsored by The Grubb Company, offering complimentary coffee and hot chocolate to one and all.
Runners will be starting from Piedmont HIgh School at 8:30 am, however, volunteers need to be at their assigned corners by 8 am, to cheer on runners and wish neighbors and friends a Happy Thanksgiving while redirecting the occasional car that might approach the course. It is OK to bring a chair, your newspaper and some coffee. All course monitors must have a cell phone with them in the event of an emergency. By 9:15 am the serious portion of the race is over, leaving volunteers with plenty of time to get that turkey into the oven! Or stop by the High School for a latte.
Volunteers are also asked to attend a brief evening meeting on Monday evening, November 22 at the Piedmont Middle School to pick up a safety vest and get instructions from a Police officer.
