Fire Dept Seeks Comments on Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
In order to establish the City’s eligibility to receive post disaster recovery funding, a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan must be filed every five years with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA.
The Piedmont Fire Department seeks public comments on its draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex.
Its purpose is to identify local hazards to City owned infrastructure and a strategy to mitigate these hazards. Threats posed by earthquake, wildfire, inundation, landslides, and drought are included.
The annex or addition to the current plan will remain open for public comment addressed to the Fire Department until May 20. After that date, comments can be submitted to the City Council prior to its consideration. Once the public comment period closes, staff will finalize the document and present it to the City Council for approval before submission to FEMA.
