Tea House Dedication on September 28

Long-time Piedmonter to be honored for her volunteer work

The City and the Piedmont Beautification Foundation will celebrate the dedication, new deck and renovation of the Japanese Tea House on Wednesday, September 28, from 4:30 to 6 pm.

At a public ceremony commemorating the renovation and new deck of the Japanese Tea House in Piedmont’s Main Park, the City will honor, the late Jean Brown Wolfe, who was an active Piedmont volunteer for decades, devoted to Piedmont beautification projects. As a member of the Piedmont Park Commission from 1971 to 1979, Wolfe was instrumental in obtaining the Japanese Tea House from the Piedmont Unified School District in 1974.  She oversaw all aspects of the relocation of the Tea House to Piedmont’s Main Park, including fund raising, construction management, and the creation of the dry stream bed below the Tea House.  In honor of her many contributions to Piedmont, the City Council has named the Piedmont Park Tea House Garden and Deck “The Jean Brown Wolfe Tea Garden.”
