Moraga Avenue Eucalyptus Trees to be Taken Down
The Piedmont Public Works Department Issues Notice
An arborist’s report recommends immediate removal of three large Blue Gum Eucalyptus trees located adjacent to 637 Moraga Avenue, Coaches Field, and Mountain View Cemetery. The tree removal work will commence and end on Monday, December 19, 2011, weather permitting. A large crane will be required for the removal and traffic controls will be in place from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm to avoid the peak traffic commute time. There may be some minor access and traffic inconveniences during the removal and traffic on Moraga Avenue will be reduced to one lane during this time.
Cleary Brothers Landscape Maintenance Company, the low bidder, will remove the trees. (The City received three bids.) The Park Commission was notified of the pending removal at their November 2, 2011 meeting. The arborist report was conducted by Hortscience.
The City asks that everyone drive carefully in this area and respect all traffic instructions, as this will assist the City in completing the project as soon as possible. For questions or special circumstances that the City should be aware of, call Mark Feldkamp as soon as possible at (510) 420-3064. Alternatively, email meatmfeldkamp@ci.piedmont.ca.us.
