Don’t Miss Chance to Hear the Candidates at January 12th Forum

Forum Presents City Council, School Board Candidates, and Sewer Tax Measure –

The League of Women Voters of Piedmont will host a candidates’ forum on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 7:30 pm in the City Council chambers in City Hall. The community is  invited to meet the candidates running for Piedmont City Council and the Board of Education. The audience also will have a chance to learn about Measure A, the sewer tax surcharge measure that will be on the February 7, 2012 municipal election ballot.

All of the candidates will participate: Margaret Fujioka, Bob McBain and Tim Rood are running for two seats on the Piedmont City Council; Nancy “Sunny” Bostrom, Jon Elliott, Sarah Pearson, Richard Raushenbush and Andrea Swenson are running for three spots on the Board of Education. The candidates will present opening and closing remarks and respond to questions from the audience.

Michael Rancer, chair of the Municipal Tax Review Committee, and Piedmont resident Rick Schiller will provide the arguments for and against Measure A, the special municipal sewer surtax proposal.

Dale Marshall will serve as the evening’s moderator. A simulcast of the event will be broadcast on KCOM-TV, channel 27.
