AC Transit’s chief financial officer, Lewis Clinton, Jr., was in Alameda County Superior Court, Hayward, on May 21 pleading not guilty to embezzling over $500,000 from his church, Allen Temple Baptist Church.
He was charged with four counts of grand theft with white-collar enhancements between 2007 and 2013. He was released on $100,000 bail.
“AC Transit spokesman Clarence Johnson said Clinton was placed on indefinite paid administrative leave on April 14. He said that he was not aware of any connection between the DA’s investigation and the transit agency’s finances.”
