No Damage Reported From Thursday Quake
On Thursday, October 20, at 2:31 p.m. a magnitude 4.0 earthquake centered in Berkeley shook Piedmont with a sharp jolt. No damage was reported. The quake is a reminder for residents to have supplies on hand for a larger seismic event. Click to read more »

Thieves Robbing Piedmont Residents on the Street
The Piedmont Police Department is advising citizens not to wear gold-colored jewelry in public. The City of Piedmont has recorded two strong-arm robberies in a three-day period where the victims gold-colored jewelery was targeted. Click to read more »

City Council approves “final” preliminary undegrounding audit report
At its meeting on Monday, Oct. 17, the City Council unanimously accepted the Preliminary Report of the Audit Subcommittee on the 2009 problems associated with the Piedmont Hills Underground Utility District (PHUUD), which resulted in the expenditure of approximately $2.3 million in City funds. Citizen complains about noise from Witter Field and Lamorinda films leaf blowers in Piedmont
It’s fall leaf season and athletic teams are in high gear. That means noise from leaf blowers and neighborhood concerns about noise pollution. Lamorinda Patch reporter Russel Albert Daniels visited Piedmont, Orinda, Los Altos, and Mill Valley to report on the noise of leaf blowers in communities that have controls on sources of noise pollution. To the Piedmont Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, and High School Principal Kitchens,
There were two evenings/nights (October 6th and 7th) of extremely loud noise from the Witter Field (Piedmont High School) football field public address system. Thursday’s game went on until 9:30 p.m. The loud, blaring music and announcer voices could be clearly heard in our home with all of our windows closed and our TV on. Click to read more »

Revised Scheme for Moraga Canyon’s Blair Park
The “final Moraga Canyon Sports Fields Project proposal by Piedmont Recreational Facilities Organization (PRFO)” has been posted on the City’s website. Predictions of City management costs of community pool proved overly optimistic
At the Oct. 17 City Council meeting, Recreation Director Mark Delventhal reported on the operation of the Community Pool since its takeover by the City on July 1. Delventhal cautioned that the staff is unsure the budgeted revenue of $429,250 will be realized. Click to read more »
